Afriworkers is a web platform dedicated to the promotion and development of remote work in Africa. Created in 2011 by Florent Youzan, a computer scientist and entrepreneur from Côte d’Ivoire, it has now expanded to nearly a dozen African countries.
Pooling skills in Africa
In an interview given in July 2011 to the website Zevillage.net, a partner of Afriworkers, Florent Youzan described the platform as the directory of African teleworkers. It allows job seekers, graduates, and students to create their profiles, and companies to post job offers. The idea is to connect these people and pool their skills in order to create employment opportunities. Members of the network also have the possibility to form work teams, in a true spirit of coworking, whether they live in the same city or in different countries.
But Afriworkers’ services do not stop there. The site also provides information on teleworking news, as well as training for its members.
